Deep snowfalls let Colorado ski resorts extend their seasons, retaining a few excessive-altitude highways famous among travelers closed through the Memorial Day weekend.
Many ski inns planning to be open are Purgatory Resort near Durango and Aspen Mountain. Aspen obtained more than a foot of snow over the past week.
Arapahoe Basin prolonged its seasons thru the weekend of June 14-sixteen, weeks later than first planned.
Also closed through the weekend had been Independence Pass, close to Aspen, Kebler Pass, close to Crested Butte, and Mount Evans Road, a 14-mile scenic dual carriageway close to Evergreen that generally opens via Memorial Day.
Colorado dual carriageway officials say they may stay closed till similar notice.
